Real case 1, regional seismic traveltime tomography in California near Parkfield
TomoATT_path/examples/realcase1_regional_tomography_California
provides a real-data example to demonstrate how to use TomoATT to invert absolute traveltimes for P-wave velocity and azimuthal anisotropy in California near Parkfield.
Implementation details can be found in Chen et al., 2025 and Chen et al., 2023 .
Before running the example, make sure that TomoATT has been successfully installed, and the executable file TOMOATT
is correctly identified.
Users can directly run this example simply by
./run_this_example.sh
This real-data example includes 1,218,044 traveltimes from 32,721 earthquakes recorded by 607 stations within a study region spanning 160 km by 440 km by 50 km.
Approximately 8 hours are required to execute 80 iterations by using 8 processors powered by AMD EPYC 7713 64-Core Processor of 2.0 GHz.
Here we will demonstrate how to run this example step-by-step.
